How to Donate Skate Gear (And Why It Matters)

One of the most common questions we get is: “I have old skate gear — can I donate it?” The answer is almost always yes. Here’s everything you need to know.

What we accept

  • Complete skateboards and decks (any condition — we can rebuild)
  • Helmets (must be CPSC certified; no visible cracks)
  • Knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards
  • Skate shoes (gently used, size 3 and up)
  • Bearings, wheels, trucks, hardware

What happens to your donation

Every piece of gear gets inspected by our volunteers. Safety equipment is tested thoroughly — if a helmet has taken a significant impact, it gets retired (helmets are designed to be single-use for major falls). Boards get cleaned up, re-gripped if needed, and handed directly to kids at our sessions.

The impact

Last year, donated gear outfitted over 80 kids who couldn’t afford their own setup. A complete beginner setup — deck, trucks, wheels, bearings, helmet, pads — runs about $150–200 new. Your used gear makes that free.

How to donate

Drop gear off at any of our Saturday sessions (9am–1pm), or reach out through our contact page to arrange a pickup. We’re grateful for every board, helmet, and set of pads.
